Sunflower seed germinating?

i am germinating my sunflower seeds and its been about 2-3 weeks, how do i know when they are germinating to be planted?

Sunflower seed germinating?
2 to 3 weeks is way to long. It should only take a couple of days to germinate. I plant the seeds directly in the ground. I planted some last week and they are coming up beautifully. You need to throw those seeds you have out and try again.
Reply:Sunflower seeds are best planted where they are to grow. I would have thought that after 3 weeks they'd be nice little seedlings. I grow sunflowers every year, they are amazingly fast growing plants! Might need a bit more info...like how warm are they, what you've planted them in etc. : )

EDIT:

quick, plant them out... very carefully
Reply:I just put them in the ground and they grow beautifully so just plant them.
Reply:What are you doing? Yes you can germinate them in a bag but why? Plant them in soil and then water them. It's not good to move them as they are very fragile. A sunflower can be planted in the final location from the start.

Also 2 weeks is beyond the normal germination time.

You sound like a Master Gardener. LOL
Reply:They should definitely be germinating(popping out of the ground) by now. I planted mine, and they were germinating 2 days after I planted them. I'm in a cold climate and they were started in a sandy mixture, under grow lights. If your seeds are not warm they won't be too anxious to germinate.

Best of luck to you!
Reply:sounds like your cooking them by putting in a bag and placing them in the winddow
