Sunflower seeds.?

Is it possible to obtain seeds from cut flowers bought from a sunflower field not to far from my house? I know it must be possible but does anybody know how?

Sunflower seeds.?
Probably not.

It is unfortunate but the flowers need to mature to produce the seeds-with sunflowers (and many other cut flowers) they are not usually mature enough to produce seed when the flowers would still be pretty enough for cutting. The flower is dead once cut from the stalk it originates from. While the blooms remain pretty for several days it is not long enough for the seeds to develop.

There are many catalogs that have lovely sunflower seeds available. Perhaps you might find the ones you seek at one of the following:

Reply:No, and even if you could you wouldn't want to. Most of the sunflowers we love are hybrids, which means their seeds would not produce a sunflower that looked like the parent plant. You'd end up with a standard "field" sunflower, which are okay but probably not what you're looking for.

Reply:No. The flower will not live long enough.
