Butter, olive oil or sunflower oil?

I have some large white mushrooms growing in my lawn, I have picked one and want to cook it. I was going to slice it and gently fry it, which is best butter, olive oil or sunflower oil to fry it in?

Butter, olive oil or sunflower oil?
well olive oil is the healthiest but somehow I think that butter will go best with mushrooms. Be sure it's safe anyways, wild mushrooms can be poisonous.
Reply:olive oil is best for mushroom.
Reply:olive oil definitely
Reply:Hi. I know it's naughty but butter is the best,

go mad and use butter.
Reply:sunflower
Reply:got to be butter for flavour, the best way is to microwave them so as not to lose any flavour, only do for about a minute, but are you sure they are mushrooms ,not not you could do yourself some serious damage
Reply:Check out these websites about mushrooms. Some of the most poisonous are the most innocent looking. Just because it is white does not make it safe. Amanita Phaloides is deadly, pure white and beautiful. There are ways to test the mushrooms, but you have to be an expert to be sure. My husband and I have eaten some wild mushrooms but they are ones that are very distinctive like Chantarelles and Morels. Here are some web sites to give you more information:

As far as cooking mushrooms is concerned, I like butter but I don't want too much saturated fat, so I combine it with olive oil. Sunflower oil doesn't add much flavor; it is really neutral, but it would be ok. I sometimes add a few herbs, but I don't put garlic on because I think it fights with the mushroom flavor.
Reply:I think sunflower oil should be tried.
Reply:Olive Oil
Reply:olive oil is healthy but burns very quick, for things like fry ups I would recommend sunflower oil
Reply:Olive oil is the healthy choice but you can also add a bit of butter once the olive oil is heated, it adds a wonderful aroma and better taste. the technique works for steaks too.
Reply:olive oil
Reply:Probably sunflower oil, and I wish you luck after you eat it, if you're not sure what kind it is. I have had more than one dog die from eating wild mushrooms.
Reply:check they are actually mushrooms not toadstools cause they could be poisonous.

Its upto you with oil some will say this or that is better but most time they taste the same. I even cooked mushrooms in micro when i was re building my kitchen. Neede no oilf just a little time in micro.
Reply:CRISCO!
Reply:fry in a little olive oil,i use extra virgin for the flavour, salt and pepper, near the end of cooking add a wee knob of butter to give them a nice nutty flavour, serve them on lovely buttered toast and a big mug of tea..oh i want some now mushrooms are my fave thing in the whole world!
Reply:butter %26amp; olive oil
Reply:I seriously wouldn't pick mushrooms out my yard and eat them. Make sure they are the nonpoisonest kind. Other than that butter is quite flavorable.
Reply:olive oil is the healthiest one
Reply:Use the olive oil you will keep the flavour and dont wash them they hold the water like a sponge
Reply:Butter but you may want to reconsider eating it unless you are 100% sure it is not a toxic variety of mushroom. You may get sick or seriously sick or worse case scenario you could die.
Reply:i think its olive oil
Reply:Sunflower is the best. You will shine like a Sun. Hope you donot reach near the sun.
Reply:I would use sunflower oil olive oil is to overpowering and don’t like to be heated to high temperatures, butter can burn and taste nasty, but should you be eating mushrooms that you found in your garden?
Reply:Olive oil has teh best taste and is most healthy. also add some garlic and other herbs.
