Lovebird eating sunflower seeds?

Is it okay to feed my lovebird sunflower seeds or are they too fattening?

Lovebird eating sunflower seeds?
If your bird eats a balanced diet, sunflower seeds are fine, as long as given in moderation, preferably as a treat.

If sunflower seeds are all your lovebird will eat, that becomes a problem, and you should look into ways to convert a bird from a seed diet to a more balanced, healthy one.
Reply:nah flowerseeds doesnt make love birds become fat , but maybe you should try gave youre pet some small fruits instead to be healthy .
Reply:We had a peachfaced lovebird for over 18 years %26amp; they were always a part of her diet.
Reply:Sunflower seeds are ok if a few are mixed in with a nice balanced diet. Too many however can be very fattening and unhealthy.
Reply:Yep they're HIGHLY fattening BUT they also have some good nutrients in them.

Because they're so high in fat %26amp; lovebirds are extremely small you should only offer one as a treat every 1 to 2 weeks. More than this, remember the birds size, %26amp; you will be putting your bird in danger.
Reply:I can not see why there should be a problem with feeding them sun flower seeds. My mom puts sun flower seeds in a feeder in her garden and all different birds come and eat them. Just mix them them with their usual seed.

If you wanted to, you could always ask at your local pet shop, one preferably that sells birds also, they should you help you.
Reply:Too fattening if that's all they are getting. Mine eat a mixed seed mix. Try offering them apples or fresh ears of corn. Mine love them!
