Why does the sunflower follow the sun? And how does it return to the eastern end during the night?

Th suflower starts looking at the sky when the sun rises, tracks it till the sun sets and what happens to it during the night? How does it return from west to east? And why does sunflower alone follows the sun?

Why does the sunflower follow the sun? And how does it return to the eastern end during the night?
It's called phototropism, the reaction the sunflower has to light. I assume when the sun goes down the sunflower goes to sleep, and first thing in the morning it turns its' head to look east towards the sun.

On the side, gravitropism is the response the plant has for the roots to grow down, and the stem up.
Reply:The moisture in the cells of the plant move and the cells mositure content is affected by the heat and light.

The reason this happens is the cells in the sunlight begin to collapse and shrink.
Reply:waiting on the sun the next morning
