Mites on sunflower leaves?

I was told that spraying a mix of dish detergent and water onto sunflower leaves will keep mites away. Does this keep away other insects as well? How much water and how much soap should I use?

Mites on sunflower leaves?
Just a few drops of soap in the water, best done in the evening when the insects have settled for the night.

It will kill other insects, the insects breath through sphericals that are clogged by the soap cause suffocation.
Reply:Just a few drops of liquid dish soap in a spray bottle of water. Be sure and get all sides of leafs and stems. It keeps many pests away, if you do it regularly, about once a week should be fine. Be sure and do it early enough in the day that your plant will be dry by nightfall, and not in the heat of the day so you will not scorch your leafs.

Good luck

God Bless
