Salted sunflower seeds?

I have some stale sunflower seeds and was thinking of throwing them out in the yard for the birds. The shell is heavily salted though. Do you think that will bother the birds, even though they only eat the inside?

Salted sunflower seeds?
Sunflower seeds really are not very good for birds, they are more like a narcotic and birds can become addicted to them. Other then the trace oils in sunflower seed there really isnt that much nutrutional value, also the salt content is too high. I wouldnt give them to any bird.

Reply:Don't ponder too much on this answer. Wild birds have more of a diverse diet versus those who live in our homes. They also eat greens, bugs and wild-grown seeds as well as bread and potato chips. The concept of seeds being "narcotic" are quite over-blown here. Report It

Reply:yeah they will eat em i do it all the time and I HAVE THIS VET ON MY STREET AND HE SAID ITS FINE ITS SALT AND WHEAT ITS ALL OK-LIZ
Reply:i dont think it will

theyre birds not people
Reply:I wouldent do it
Reply:throw them away. salt will dehydrate them. get bird seed for the birds, its chemical and salt free!

you shouldnt feed animals people food.
Reply:Some songbirds will find sunflower seeds too big to open. Doves eat seeds, hull and all. I would suggest just throwing them away. The salt may cause sever dehydration in a bird, especailly if they eat a lot of them.
Reply:No it shouldn't They love seeds
Reply:Sunflower seeds are addicting so if you feed them in the future try to find seed that has fewer sunflower seeds. In the winter you should feed them more than in the summer because they are high in fat for birds.
Reply:no plain sunflower seeds
