Can you eat "Russian Mammoth" sunflower seeds?

Are there particular sunflower seeds you can and cant eat? Somewhere I read "if your going to eat the seeds make sure you get confectionary sunflowers" but they didnt say anymore than that, and I dont know if the source was reliable or anything. Anyone know?

Yea, you can. I'm growing the mammoths right now. After you harvest the seed, soak them in salt water and then roast them in the oven. Here is a site with complete instructions for roasting: http://www.sunflowernsa.com/health/recip...

Reply:sure you can eat them............do you grow your own.? I would bakethem first for about half hour on like 250 degrees.....
