Olive,Sunflower or vegetable oil which is best for high cholestrol?

I have very high cholestrol 7.5 I use olive oil spread but not every day. I work in a garage and it,s easy to pick up a sandwich but I choose salmon or chicken with a low fat count.I use sunflower oil for chips (yes I know chips are bad) and olive oil for all other cooking. so, are any oils good for you or are all bad?

Some oils can be a benefit, like Flax oil with a heavy ALA content. It has been shown that a small amount of olive oil can be a benefit as well, and many European diets include a small glass of that everyday.
Reply:sunflower oil better than veg or olive oil!!
Reply:Olive oil is the best for reducing cholesterol. Sunflower is 2nd best. Canola is healthy but it's made from rapeseed which can cause thyroid problems. Same for soy.

Olive oil is best because it not only reduces the bad cholesterol drs have found it increases the good. If the good is high in proportion to the bad then you don't need a special diet.

My uncle had a count of 400 %26amp; the dr. said he didn't know what kept him alive. He was put on a really strict diet %26amp; was miserable. When I heard about the good versus bad I told him to go elsewhere %26amp; have both checked. It turned out his good was 175 so the bad wasn't really that bad. He was told just to watch his pork intake %26amp; use kosher salt %26amp; olive oil when cooking. A big difference from the diet he was on. That was 15 yrs. ago when he was 65 with a family history of heart problems in the men. Yet he's still alive %26amp; kicking w/o any kind of heart problems.

So if I was you I'd find out the bad versus good number. But olive oil is definitely the best %26amp; the only fat that increases the good.
